Whatever the location I am especially interested in texture, colour and layers. This fascination dates back to teenage studies of Siskind and Klein and their exploration of decay, pattern and the random effect of weathering. My initial interest has developed from aerosol based graffiti pieces to more landscape influenced work where layering is used to suggest depth.

Many of my pieces use an extended horizontal format to give a panoramic effect sometimes at close range to subjects. I like the way objects look different this way.

These paintings can be landscapes or townscapes the important thing being the choice of viewpoint so that objects are best seen in relation to each other. I use a wide range of drawing, painting, spraying, masking and abrasive techniques to create mixed media paintings, working either on location or in my studio.
